Great bungalows with outdoor facilities and a nice beach(although somewhat rocky at low tide). the service was painful....consistently under delivered on all fronts. We booked snorkel trips and massages only to find that the advertised trip really didn t exist and they tried to pawn off the waitress as a massage therapist because the real one was double booked.Great place to relax but don t have high expectations about the service and you will be very happy!

my booking was confirmed but after a few days I was informed that the hotel management had given my room away for the first night so I was supposed to go to a garden room instead of beachfront(at the same price!)It turned out when I got there that the place was almost empty and we did get our beachfront room

After a hectic week in Bangkok, we flew to Phuket and stayed the first two days in Baan Mai, a perfect place to get away and forget about everything. Baan Mai was perfect as there was just one family staying at the resort besides us, the next morning we found the resort all to ourselves! Important to keep in mind that we were there in the middle of August, the low season. It s considered low season because there are less tourists as it rains practically every day, but only for about an hour or so. It s totally worth going in low season and saving at least half of what you d spend in high season.
From the moment we took the boat, we felt like we were getting the special treatment. Everything about this place felt surreal... I have never been to such a beach, it felt quite distant from the rest of the world. It was full of shellfish and as you walked, something would always crawl or run across right under your feet. We collected a bunch of beautiful shells and took it home as a souvenir from our honeymoon.
Stay only for 2 days, maximum 3 as there isn t that much to do except sleep, swim in the pool, take tons of pictures of gorgeous butterflies, flowers and shells, canoe and get tan. After 2 days, you should feel rejouvenated and ready to face the busy streets of Patong.
As for the price, the rooms are not exceptional, we stayed in nicer rooms for less on the main island of Phuket but because of the nature and quiet, Baan Mai is unique.

This place was an amazing little find! You should definitely visit if you want a little taste of paradise. There is a pool, but the cottages are ocean front. They were recently under new management and we were the first visitors (and only guests for two days) of the season! We couldn t afford to pay for something like this in the states. The food was fabulous and everyone was helpful. Some of the staff do not speak a lot of English, but they are still friendly and will point you in the right direction if you have a question about something. The hospitality was amazing and the sunsets beautiful! As soon as we arrived we were welcomed with a foot wash and fruit drink. The only bizarre part was that you have to take a little motor boat from a pier on Phuket to the resort. Be prepared to get your feet wet and enjoy paradise. This was our favorite resort in Thailand!

We stayed in a Beach Front bungalow for 4 nights from 25 February 2007. Loved the bathroom, once we got used to it, but didn’t like the room so much – dark, with very dim lighting. Unbelievably hard mattress!
The beach was disappointing, sharp coral with rocks below the water line, making it unsafe for swimming. Liked the pool area. The food was excellent, international or authentic Thai – which could be hot or toned down if requested.
Not a sophisticated resort – but highly recommended for relaxing quiet holiday with good food and friendly staff.
